This shoe bag is an extremely rare item and is a part of Nike and Track & Field History. It is in relatively good condition considering its age (The 1968 Olympic Games logo is printed on the bag) There are some rust spots and small spike holes on one side of the bag (see photo). This bag was made in Japan. Nike was founded in 1964 as Blue Ribbon Sports and initially operated as a distributor for the Japanese shoemaker Onitsuka Tiger (now known as Asics). It officially became Nike Inc.
It was created by Bill Bowerman a track-and-field coach and Phil Knight, a middle-distance runner from Portland who was enrolled in the University of Oregon.
